Renee Marie Lancaster, 75, of Lake Peekskill NY passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on August 13, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, love and unwavering sarcasm.
She was born on April 23, 1950 in Peekskill NY to Anna and James Rockett, attended Croton Harmon High School and went on to marry and spend over 50 years with the love of her life Ernest Lancaster Jr. Renee was born with a boundless curiosity and a heart open to the world. She carried those traits throughout her life, she was always listening and offering encouragement more than judgment, and always giving more than she ever asked in return.
Renee’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who found beauty in the simple things in life. To her family she was a safe harbor. To her friends, she was a confidante. Besides taking care of her family she loved gardening, Jeopardy, and you could always find her floating around the pool with a grandbaby in her arms. Later on in life she enjoyed a good game of solitaire and having her nails done.
Her generosity extended far beyond her home. Renee touched countless lives with her compassion and selflessness. Whether it was a neighbor in need, a stranger at the grocery store, or a friend going through hard times, she offered help without hesitation and kindness without condition.
While her passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, Renee’s spirit lives on in every act of kindness inspired by her example. Renee’s love was her legacy; Her laughter, her wisdom, and her unwavering love will live on in us always.
A celebration of Renee’s life will be held on Tuesday August 19, 2025 from 5-7 at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley, New York 10579
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer society and/or The National MS society.

Renee was a very close childhood friend and I spent many hours on Bayview Terrace. I was her tap dancing partner; we played in the woods and we dressed up and learned to jitter bug in her living room. I have wonderful memories of Renee that I will cherish and keep close to my heart. My sincere condolences to her family. Barbara Waidler aka Bobby Lyons
