Nancy Jane Travis Schnaars, 78, of Garrison, NY passed peacefully on April 26, 2026, at NYP Milstein Hospital in Manhattan, NY.

Born in Babylon, NY on May 31, 1947, Nancy grew up in Yorktown Heights, NY and attended Yorktown schools. She moved to Garrison, NY with her husband Noel, where she resided for over 57 years. Nancy loved going to concerts, Bingo, the casino, baseball games and spending time with her grandchildren and cats.

Nancy put her all into her work and was beloved by her coworkers, most recently at National Maritime Historical Society as Vice President of Membership. She was a member of the Garrison Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Philipstown Senior Center.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Noel Schnaars, parents Robert L and Loretta Travis, sister Loretta ‘Sissy’ Badia (Frank), brother-in-law James Ward (Carol), brother-in-law Kelly Wood (Jean) and Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Poffel (Angelo).

Nancy is survived by her children, Angelo Trigona of Saint Augustine, FL, Christin Hoecker (Karl) of East Worcester, NY, Nicole Truesdell (Rob) of Walden, NY, Shannon Schnaars of Garrison, NY, and her four grandchildren: Kayla Mulholland, Emma Trigona, Samantha Hoecker and Sierra Truesdell; sister Jean Wood; brother Robert Travis; brother-in-law Frank Badia Jr; sister-in-law Carol Ward, numerous other family members and many, many friends.

A New York Mets fan since 1962, Nancy had an immeasurable sense of humor. She will be remembered most for her perpetual kindness, smile and having an open ear and coffee ready for when friends or family stopped by. She was the constant fan at her kids’ games, home and away. She passed her love for live music down to all four of her children. She loved the sun on her skin and enjoyed computer games with her cats on her lap.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30am Friday, May 1, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Dialysis Clinics Incorporated, 2649 Strang Boulevard, Suite 100, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
