Obituary For Ellen Bardes

Ellen T. Bardes, a longtime resident of Lake Peekskill, New York, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

Ellen was born in New York City on April 15, 1935, to Patrick and Mary Magee, and was raised by Patrick and Anne O’Hare in Yonkers, New York. She graduated from St. Barnabas High School in the Bronx in 1952.

Ellen met and married the love of her life, Alvin J. Bardes, who predeceased her in January 2000. Together, they devoted their lives to raising their eight children, creating a home filled with love, faith, and strong family values.

Outside of work, Ellen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her generosity and kindness extended far beyond her home, and she touched countless lives with her compassion, warmth, and selflessness. Ellen will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her quiet strength that guided those around her.

Ellen is survived by her eight children: Linda (Jim) Cummings, Alvin (Jody) Bardes, Thomas Bardes, Daniel (Donna) Bardes, Kenneth (Jean) Bardes, William (Patti) Bardes, Patricia Carey, and Kathleen (Brian) Bardes.

She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren: Tara (Billy) Venezia, Tiffany (Brian) Carey, Daniel (Nicole) Bardes, Megan Bardes, Jenna (Chris) Carey, Kristina (Michael) Fratto, James Carey, Samantha (Taylor) Devine, Dylan Page, Jayln Page, Shannon O’Toole, Kyle Kardian, William Leadbetter, and Laura Leadbetter; and her nine great-grandchildren: Billy Venezia, Kelli Venezia, Michael Venezia, Joseph Venezia, Anthony Johnston, Kyrie Williamson, Blake Williamson, Finnegan Scharff, and Wyatt Scharff.

In addition, Ellen is survived by her brothers Charlie (Robin) McGee and Danny (Peggy) O’Hare, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Alvin; her four sisters, Mary, Patricia, Babs, and Catsil; and her brother Philip.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.
