Daniel Anthony Moon was born on November 3, 1948 in Manhattan, son of Marie Moon and Benjamin Jackson Moon. He grew up in the Bronx and Flushing, NY. He attended Thomas Edison high school where he learned the electrical trade and worked as a Local 3 construction electrician in Manhattan and at JFK airport. He worked as an electrician for NYC Parks dept in the Bronx for 38 years which he described as the “best job he ever had.”

From a young age Daniel was interested in building and flying model planes, a hobby that he embraced his whole life. He was an active member of two model aviation clubs in Mahopac and Hopewell Junction. He was also an active runner, swimmer, windsurfer, motorcyclist, hiker, guitar player, inventor, Scout leader, environmentalist, and outdoorsman.

In 1984 Daniel married Pauline Yuen and they moved to Putnam Valley, NY. Together they had one son, Daniel Alexander Moon, and lived happily together for 25 years.

In 2007 Daniel met Cecilia Whu at the Clearwater Festival. Destiny lead to their causal encounter which blossomed into a friendship eventually leading to a marriage. They lived happily together for 16 years.

Daniel will always be remembered as a generous, kind, and outspoken man. He was always willing to help those in need and eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm about hobbies, his trade, health, safety-consciousness, and spirituality. He had great love and devotion to his family, friends, and the environment. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours are on Friday, July 28th from 5-8 pm at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 29th at the Church of the North American Martyrs, and interment will follow at Tompkins Corners Cemetery in Putnam Valley.
