Obituary For Brian Thomas Rankel

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Brian Rankel, 63, of Lake Peekskill, NY on July 3, 2025.

Born in Mt. Vernon, NY on October 13, 1961, to parents Carlo and Gertrude Rankel.

Brian enjoyed the outdoors, never missing the chance to plant, garden and tend to his various fruit trees. He was a lover of all animals, often found spending time with his pets both four legged and finned. He also enjoyed music, and playing his guitar. Brian was a culinary enthusiast who was always whipping up something delicious in the kitchen. He offered his hospitality to all that entered his doors, having homemade snacks ready to serve. Gone too soon but never forgotten. Loving memories will never fade.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Carlo and Gertrude Rankel, his son Jonathon Rankel and his brother Robert Rankel. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Kay Rankel of 42 years, son Daniel Rankel, dauther in law Sharina Rankel, brother Carl Rankel and sister Kathy Seymour, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10am-12pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Dr, Putnam Valley, NY. The funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, located at 1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.

Brian was a one of kind, I loved sitting around to him playing the guitar or blasting music. His cooking was AMAZING. Blessed with memories of him. While the sadness is there I find comfort knowing Jonathan was there to receive him as they are now reunited. I love you all so much, im so sorry he had to go. ❤️Mindy (or what Brian would always call me Mindyloohoo)
