Arthur W. Smith passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born in Peekskill on February 14, 1944 to Francis and Virginia Smith, both of whom have predeceased him. He was always a creative person who loved to work with his hands. He was an electrician who seemed to be able to solve any problems that came his way. He loved the outdoors, and loved to hunt. He raced motorcycles, snowmobiles, and cars. If it went fast, he was on it or in it! He was a great cook, and enjoyed preparing holiday feasts.
Artie is survived by Maryann, his beloved wife for 44 years. and by his daughter Jennifer and her husband Peter, and he was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Danielle. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Artie’s beloved brother Earl, sister-in-law Michele, and their family also survive.

Visiting hours are on Sunday, August 10th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. At Heritage Funeral Home, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley. The funeral service will be at 11 am on Monday, August 11th at Grace Methodist Church on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley, and interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department and to the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
